The Lake Chelan Wine Valley runs its harvest season from the first day of fall to Thanksgiving. Its final stretch is the Fall Barrel Tasting, held on the second and third weekends of November, which this year fall on November 13 to 15 and 20 to 22, 2026. The valley's own description of the season promises winemakers explaining "the grape's journey from vine to bottle" and limited, newly released wines. That ending is the part of harvest that happens indoors, among the barrels, after the bins are gone from the rows.
From the hillside above the south shore, the 2026 barrel lineup has a clear center of gravity. Only one listing on the Wine Valley's barrel-weekend page belongs to a winery whose founder calls it a South Shore destination, and it is running its first November under new owners. For a Clos ChaVelle household, that one Saturday is the closest the season comes to home. The rest of the month is spread across Manson tasting rooms, a Thanksgiving table at Sorrento's and a tree lighting downtown.
Tsillan Cellars holds its Chelan Fall Barrel Tasting on Saturday, November 14. It is a guided tour, and the format is tighter than a walk-up tasting.
The tour starts in the Tasting Room with a pour of the 2023 Estate Syrah. Then it moves into Production for the 2025 vintage, drawn straight from the barrel, so guests taste two Estate Syrah vintages back to back. The comparison is the reason to go. A finished, bottled Syrah next to one still aging in oak shows what the cellar adds between harvest and release. The 2025 wine in that barrel is the vintage picked a full year before the rows went quiet this fall.
Four seatings of 20 people means 80 places for the whole day. A household planning to bring visiting family over Thanksgiving week will be competing for the same short list as everyone else who comes for the barrel weekends.
This is the first fall barrel tasting since Tsillan changed hands. The Lake Chelan Mirror reported in July that a group of local investors led by Manson residents Ronan and Gillian Walsh acquired the winery in a transaction effective June 30, 2026. The sale covered the Tsillan Cellars estate and winery operations in Lake Chelan, Sorrento's Restaurant and the Woodinville tasting room. Founder Dr. Bob Jankelson, who started the winery more than 25 years ago, stays on as an ambassador.
In the same Mirror story, Jankelson described his original goal as creating "a truly exceptional wine destination on the South Shore of Lake Chelan." Ronan Walsh, who has lived in Manson full time with Gillian since 2020, put the new group's intent plainly. "We are not coming in to change what Dr. Bob built. We are here to honor it, invest in it, and steward this land and this winery for generations to come."
The announcement said the existing winemaking team, tasting room operations, restaurant, events and wine club would all continue under the new ownership. The November 14 tour shows that continuity in practice. The people pulling samples from the barrels are the winery's own winemakers, pouring the estate's own Syrah.
Tsillan is one of five listings on the Wine Valley's 2026 barrel-tasting page. The other four spread across both weekends, so the second Saturday belongs to other wineries.
| Winery | Dates | Hours | What's listed |
|---|---|---|---|

| Tipsy Canyon Winery | Nov 14 and 21 | 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. | Live music |
| El Mochuelo Viñedo | Nov 14 and 15 | 12:00 to 4:30 p.m. | Barrel tasting |
| Hard Row to Hoe | Nov 14 and 21 | 12:00 to 5:00 p.m. | Barrel tasting |
| Cairdeas Winery | Nov 21 | 6:30 p.m. | Fall Barrel Dinner with Chef Austin Harmon |
Saturday, November 14 is the crowded day, with four of the five wineries pouring. A south shore resident who books the noon Tsillan tour can still make the afternoon window at Hard Row to Hoe. Hard Row's tasting room is at 300 Ivan Morse Road in Manson, and the winery describes it as North Shore. By November 21 the options shrink to Tipsy Canyon's music, Hard Row's second tasting day and the Cairdeas dinner, which starts at 6:30 p.m. and is the only evening event on the page.
The vineyard beside Clos ChaVelle supplies Vin du Lac, a winery that has no listing on the barrel page. Vin du Lac Winery describes Clos Chevalle Vineyard as 50 planted acres just off the south shore of Lake Chelan, at 1,300 to 1,500 feet. The site faces northeast and north, with deep, gravelly and sandy soils. Vin du Lac names it as the source for its Lake Chelan AVA Chardonnay, Viognier, Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir. Those are white grapes and early-ripening reds. The rows on the hill go into whites and Pinot. The barrel Syrah going around on November 14 comes from somewhere else.
Vin du Lac is also the south shore winery with the biggest change on paper. In August, the City of Chelan posted a notice of application for a proposed 1,709-square-foot tasting room, a 1,480-square-foot covered patio, an office and restroom rebuild, an added garage and parking growing from 37 to 75 spaces at 105 Spader Bay Road. The vineyard and winery were to stay active during the work. The city's notice set August 20, 2026 as the comment deadline and said the city expected to issue a determination of nonsignificance. The Lake Chelan Mirror's August 17 report described the project as proposed, with no public hearing scheduled. For now it is a filed plan, with no approval or construction date announced.
The current room is open. Vin du Lac's homepage lists tasting room and bistro hours of Thursday through Sunday, noon to 8 p.m., plus a Friday Abode Happy Hour from 3 to 7 p.m. with $5 glass pours. The bistro page still labels that schedule "summer hours," so check before planning a November visit around it.
Two other south shore names are worth a call ahead. Siren Song, at 635 South Lakeshore Road, posts Thursday through Sunday hours of noon to 8 p.m. for tasting, food and dining, and suggests reservations. Karma Vineyards says its tasting room is open year-round. Tsillan's own tasting room page lists Sunday through Thursday, noon to 6 p.m., and Friday and Saturday, noon to 8 p.m., and notes that hours vary seasonally.
The harvest season ends on Thanksgiving, and the south shore's version of the holiday is also at Tsillan. Sorrento's holds a Thanksgiving buffet on Thursday, November 26, 2026, from 1 to 5 p.m. It costs $74 per person, $30 for children 6 to 11, and nothing for children five and under. The 2026 listing names cider-brined turkey, green bean casserole and stuffing. Reservations go through OpenTable or 509-682-9463, and parties of eight or more are asked to call. Older Sorrento's Thanksgiving pages with different menus and dates are still online, so book from the 2026 listing on the Lake Chelan Wine Valley events page.
The next day, the calendar moves to downtown Chelan for the Lake Chelan Chamber's Small Town Holidays kickoff and Plaid Friday. Friday, November 27 runs like this:
Put together, a Clos ChaVelle household can taste the 2025 Syrah from the barrel on November 14, sit down at Sorrento's on November 26 and be on Woodin Avenue for the tree lighting the next evening, all without leaving the Chelan side of the lake. The first two dates are Tsillan's, and the third is on the Chamber's downtown calendar.
If you're at Clos ChaVelle and want to know how the vineyard next door, the wineries along South Lakeshore Road and a quieter November fit into owning here, Jessie Simmons grew up in this valley and is happy to talk it through over a glass. Reach out any time, and see you at the cellar door on the 14th.
